Wortley Village - beautiful, mature trees line the quiet streets, growing in the front yards of romantic heritage homes with intricate accents. Artisanal restaurants, mom and pop shops, and wide open green space are just a few of the many attractive qualities of this South London neighbourhood.

Living In Wortley

Wortley Village is a quiet neighbourhood in London, ON with a small community feel and friendly residents. Many of the homes in Wortley date back to the 20th century, however you will find a variety of styles as you drive, bike, or walk through the village. Mansions, bungalows, and cottage style homes line the streets.

If you are thinking about moving to Wortley, there are many options you can take advantage of. Multi-unit homes make an ideal spot to rent for students and young professionals, while some of the larger homes are a great purchase for young families looking to settle in this area.

Schools abound in this neighbourhood, with five elementary schools to choose from. Choose to send your kids to Victoria, Wortley Road, St. Martin, Mountsfield, or Tecumseh, and if you’re looking for a high school, London South Collegiate is a great option.

Dine

Perhaps one of the best parts of Wortley is the restaurant scene. With so many local options lining the streets, it’s a great experience to dine in Wortley. From pub fare at Old South Village Pub, to charcuterie heaven at Wolfe Pack Company Bar, to amazing, authentic Greek eats at Sweet Onion Bistro the possibilites are truly endless. Don’t forget Plant Matter Kitchen for plant-based options, and Black Walnut Bakery for an amazing morning coffee or afternoon pick-me-up! Oh, and these are all located on the same street, so you could try everything back to back if you really wanted to (though, we don’t suggest it).

Keep an eye out for two new spots in Old South - "Through Thick and Thin", another Wolfe Brothers restaurant and pizza shop, and right beside it is Locomotive Espresso's 2nd and newest location. They are both right at the corner of Chester and Ridout.

Shop

The shopping in Wortley Village provides a great variety of options for everyone. Impressions of Wortley Village Boutique is a great option for women’s clothing, while Unwrapped Marketplace offers a place to purchase your zero-waste essentials. Stop in to A Village Tail to grab all the essentials for your furry friend.

A valu-Mart, Pharmasave and Home Hardware can be found on the main drag as well. You could walk down Wortley Road and hit every single shop you need within a 2km stretch - convenience!

Recreation

There are so many options to choose from when it comes to recreation. Head to The Green to enjoy a good book under a tall, century old tree or throw a frisbee with friends. Within several hundred meters of The Green, you can access the YMCA located inside the historic London Normal School. Take advantage of the state-of-the-art facilities, LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) courses, and day camps for youth.

You can also get involved further by joining the Old South Community Organization, dedicating time to neighbourhood through improvement projects or just by simply lending a helping hand.

It is clear why Wortley Village was voted best neighbourhood in Canada in 2013. The thriving local shops and restaurants, unique architecture, and friendly folks you pass by every day on your way, make it easy to call Wortley ‘home’. Simply put, there is something for everyone in Wortley.
